Jill McDougall is an artist and designer in Anacortes, Washington. Originally from Denver, Colorado, she holds a Bachelors Degree in Psychology with a minor in Studio Art. Since 1999, she has exhibited work on the Big Island of Hawaii, Oregon, Colorado and Washington. Jill’s artwork is in private collections nationwide.
Bright, bold colors are common throughout Jill’s artwork, as are textural layers of paint, paper and found objects. Smooth, serene brushstrokes characterize her paintings, and are often contrasted with texture and movement within mixed media elements. Jill’s unconventional paintings are bold, dreamlike and surreal interpretations of everyday surroundings. Antique papers, old maps, and subtle images of clocks add a sense of impermanence and serve as a reflection of constant change and transition.
Jill's artwork is influenced and inspired by the endless natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. When she's not painting or with her family, she can be found soaking up the sun (and the rain!) on Fidalgo Island's beaches and hiking trails.
